Bio:

Anica is a self-taught artist living on the South Coast of NSW. Married to her encouraging husband Laurie, they have four adult children between them and eight grandchildren with another on the way.

Anica's art career started at the age of 15 with her first sales, but despite her undying enthusiasm for art, she had to forgo this education for a more "sensible" career of accounting/bookkeeping. All was not lost as soon after the birth of her second child she picked up the brushes again and started working from home. "Anica Art" has been running in one form or another for the past 30 years incorporating calligraphy, Riso-printing, designing, photography, fine-art printing, framing and in recent years intricate photo restorations.

Nothing beats painting though, and the underlying theme in Anica's work is light and emotion and it's these two elements that spell "life and hope" for her. No matter what the subject is, subtly  expressing emotion is always the challenge and ultimate goal.

Favourite mediums are watercolour, acrylics, gouache, pastels and oils.

In the year 2000, she was encouraged to follow her dream and took a shine to the wonderful world of Australian birds, animals and flora. Having spent many a day observing and studying the intricate details of our native birds, flora and fauna, she found great pleasure in depicting these.  Putting paint to paper, her preferred medium was gouache on black mat board. Limited edition prints of a set of 23 paintings were printed and wonderfully, thousands were sold and shipped all over the world.

It was at this time that Anica and her husband Laurie opened their first gallery in Springwood in the Blue Mountains. The gallery was devoted solely to Anica's work, selling both originals and prints of her work. Laurie took on the role of chief framer and provided customers with several popular framing options. Over the years there have been a few Anica Art galleries in the Blue Mountains, as well as Ulladulla and Mollymook on the South Coast of NSW.

Today, Anica continually works on her evolving style, is mesmerised by watercolour, loves painting outdoors and believes that it's the journey that must be enjoyed!

Thank you for visiting!
